Biography

A native of Salem, Dale Pence formed his own construction business there in 1949, and Dale Pence, General Contractor, now Pence-Kelly Construction, celebrates its 50th anniversary next year. Among many accomplishments, his firm has been responsible for major renovations and modifications to our State Capitol Building. Mr. Pence is a founding committee member of the group who established OSU' s construction engineering management program. During the late ' 60s, he helped develop the curriculum and funding base for the program through an initial joint venture between the OSU College of Engineering and the Oregon Columbia Chapter of the Associated General Contractors. Our CEM program thrives, in part, due to his generosity, including the Pence Scholarship Fund.
